As we come out of the holiday weekend, we recognize that Labor Day served as an opportunity for us as a nation to recognize the hard work of Americans, who have greatly contributed to our country and our pathway towards continued prosperity. This is especially true this year where every single person in this country has been impacted by the COVID-19 virus. For some, it has been a job loss or reduced hours. Others may have seen a work increase but a lifestyle change at home.
Small business owners have felt a brunt of the impact, especially in specific industries like hospitality and many retail stores. Yet there is hope as we head to fall that the resolute, unwavering work ethic engrained in our area, state, and country continues to be woven within every one of us.
While many view Labor Day as a transitional period from Summer to Fall, countless Americans remain occupied with thinking through their current employment situation, striving to transition towards a better future for their personal selves. According to the HISTORY Channel’s website, “Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894.”
We’ve all been forced to “labor” a little more than usual this year. And even the day after the long, holiday weekend, the team here at Bashore Green wants to recognize everyone who goes to work every day to support their families and their communities. It is not always easy. It’s not always fun. But hard work and innovation are two things that made this country great. Thank you and together let’s make September a great working month for all!
